TMC Survey: Rate the User Group Events at Macworld Expo 2006
Jan 17 - Feb 14. 2006
If you were in San Francisco for Macworld Expo, you probably attended at least some of the user group events, and we want to know what you thought of them. (Not all responses answered all questions)
5 - Any and all comments on the User Group presence and activities at Macworld Expo (including the Final Cut Pro User Group evening event, the User Group Guides, etc.)? Don't say it somewhere else where it gets lost - say it here!
  • No guides this year, booth was all but not there, University gets more expensive for what you get, no give-away at the Adobe breakfast. Are budgets that tight?

  • Guess I didn't find out enough about it before hand because I only stumbled through the showfloor section.

  • what happened to the final cut pro people this year?

  • More publicity about some of the user group stuff before the show would have been helpful. Better signs at the show would have reminded me that these things were there.

  • bigger/better! maybe make the lounge JUST a place to grab lunch (maybe part of a 'User Groups @ the Users Conference' badge sold only thru user groups/ or the mug center) hang out/wifi/'email' stations. turn the ug booth into a belkin sized extravaganza with a speakers section on one side....

  • I always have a great time at the User Group events and at MacWorld. Sometimes the User Group Lounge is such a welcome respite from the madness of the show floor, I'm glad it's available just to have somewhere to sit down for a few minutes! Wireless access wasn't very good there this year, though; that would be a very nice addition.

  • New location for User Group Guides (hallway outside Expo) made for easier access, better visibility Overall, this was the best expo ever for user group activities

  • Overall, I don't think the User Group community itself supported the User Group initiatives to the degree that they might have. We like to suggest that we are an important part of the Macintosh community but my feeling was that this was being exhibited only by the very tip of the iceberg of all UG members. I have suggested to IDG that they produce a "meeting in a box" available in the Sept. timeframe which could be used by MUG Execs to push for even more MUG members to make the trip to Macworld in future.

  • If we could get a lot more active, that'll be even better.

  • As always, thanks to the UGAB, MUG Center, and everyone else who helped. There was a good UG presence, and everything went well, overall.

  • the guide booth was great this time instead of hidden away

  • Were there any guides? It seemed that user groups slipped a little this year.

  • every year the group at the monday thing gets older and there was a lot of gray hair in the user group booth. Can't some younger people be found to get involved?
