Macworld Conference & ExpoMacworld San Francisco Introduces New Conference Feature: Market Symposiums

Five new symposiums help small business owners; educators (K-12); art directors; new media artists; and Podcasters get the most out of their Mac computing experience

FRAMINGHAM, MA, October 18, 2005 – IDG World Expo, the leading producer of world-class tradeshows, conferences and events for technology markets, is launching a new conference feature – Market Symposiums – at Macworld Conference & Expo®, taking place January 9-13, 2006 at San Francisco’s Moscone Center. There are five unique day-long Market Symposiums that will help small business owners; educators (K-12); art directors; new media artists; and Podcasters get the most out of their Mac computing experience.

“The new Market Symposiums at Macworld San Francisco will provide valuable business direction and technical insights to key customer segments that rely on Mac technology,” said Paul Kent, Macworld conference chairperson. “Attendees will benefit from spending a complete day at Macworld focused exclusively on issues they face putting Macs to work in their environment.”

The Market Symposiums will take place on the last day of Macworld, Friday, January 13, 2006 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The price for the Symposiums is $295 if purchased before December, 10, 2005. Symposium topics include:

--Small Business Owners: This Symposium will highlight what Apple technology can do to make work more effective and rewarding for the small business owner. A faculty of experts will discuss important considerations and options for office hardware, servers, network services, desktop configuration and IT management. Topics of discussion include: when and why to change ISPs; bringing servers in-house; outsourcing hosting; managing desktops; creating collaborative workflows; managing IT policies; IT budgeting and more.

--Educators (K-12): Educators across the globe have embraced technology as a catalyst for enhancing teaching and learning. In this Symposium, visionary educators will demonstrate current applications of technology to engage students, enhance achievement and impact learning in new and powerful ways. Teachers, administrators, school IT and tech coordinators, parents and students are all welcome to attend this event, co-produced by Computer Using Educators (CUE).

--Art Directors: Successful art directors must have a grasp of changing workflows and technologies. This Symposium will explore the latest innovations and best practices defining today's design marketplace – from ad design and submission to QuarkXPress 7 versus Adobe's InDesign CS2. A panel of experts will also discuss their need to mix print with Web design, and how they leverage video and Flash to create effective messaging for clients.

--New Media Artists: This Symposium will explore the latest new media trends and solutions, and examine what customers are demanding from today’s digital artists. New media artists will gain valuable knowledge on how to manage projects; how to develop new ideas; the latest hardware and software tools; and what's new in delivery for the Web, CD and DVDs. This Symposium is geared towards those artists who are creating marketing, education, presentations, e-learning, e-mail marketing, asset and content management.

--Podcasters: Fortune 500 companies are adding Podcasts to their marketing mix, new businesses are being started and a paradigm shift in journalism has been sent into orbit with Podcasting. This Symposium brings together innovators, market makers, opportunists and media visionaries to share their thoughts and experiences about riding this newest wave of Internet opportunity. Network with fellow Podcasters while learning the tactics that are making them successful in this unique gathering.
